Astronomers say that there are two important factors to describe every orbit: the nodes and the apsides. Today’s astrologers are familiar with concept of the lunar nodes, but most have never even heard of the lunar apsides (pronounced AP-si-deez).
The Moon’s apsides – the line connecting the Moons apogee and perigee points — have been tracked since ancient times. However, astrologers may be most familiar with them by their 20thcentury appellations: Lilith for the lunar apogee, and Priapus for the perigee.
But why did astrologers give them these names? Do they make sense mythologically? Do they make sense in the interpretation of charts real people?
