After several months of heavier-than-usual astrological “weather” the July 2016 astrology forecast brings a fresh wave of energy to help you regain your momentum.
Happy Solstice Moon
The Summer solstice celebrates the time of the greatest light in the northern hemisphere. Each year the longest day/shortest night occur around the solstice. Astrologically speaking, it’s the moment when the Sun enters the Moon-touched sign Cancer.
Astrologers know Cancer the Crab as cardinal water sign, ruled by the Moon. Cardinal signs initiate; water signs are interested in how things feel, especially emotionally and intuitively. Like a duck gathering her chicks, the Moon collects and protects. Put all those together, and it’s not a big leap to mom and apple pie. It’s concerns are everything that make us feel safe, and connected.
As the Sun moves into Cancer, what feels right takes center stage. Even more so this year, with a Full Moon illuminating the sky on the first day of the northern hemisphere’s summer.
A Full Moon on the solstice is a special treat. According to EarthSky, the last time it fell on the Summer solstice was 1967 (the “Summer of Love”), and it won’t happen again until 2062.
But perhaps the real significance of this synchronicity runs deeper. The first degrees of the cardinal signs are what astrologers call the “world axis,” the zodiacal crossroads between the personal and collective. The choices you make as an individual may have more ripples in the wider world than you expected. Choose your course wisely.
Getting Squared Away
Three of the slower-moving planets — Jupiter, Saturn and Neptune — have been eying one another across the mat for weeks now (some would say months even). Their point of contention? Exactly how to take practical steps to manifest your dreams.
Mercury moving through Gemini has encouraging them to talk through their differences. The truth isn’t always pretty, but it will set you free. Recently you may have realized your plans lack clarity. Or perhaps that your habits aren’t conducive to getting what you want accomplished. Maybe even that you need to do more research to discover HOW to achieve your goals.
Whatever the case, own it. Because once you take responsibility that self-transformation is within your power, it becomes possible to make the changes you need to get in alignment with yourself — mind, heart, soul and behavior.
Jupiter Loves Pluto
There’s another slow-moving yet-powerful alignment that’s heating up this coming month. Optimistic Jupiter harmonizes with transformative Pluto; the alignment is exact on June 29, but its positive ripples will be felt through July.
The pairing will bring the hope you need to make changes you’ve been dreading. If you’ve been postponing, make time to just do it and get it over with.
The pair also has an affinity for making money. If there are other factors in alignment, ask for a raise, or raise your own prices. It’s also a good time for prosperity magic — make your intentions now to open yourself to abundance throughout the year.
Mars Ends Retrograde
Whether you’re itching to get moving, or just plain exhausted, you may start to feel a little more balanced over the coming days. After several months in retrograde, Mars finally resumes his normal, direct motion on June 29.
As an avatar of our energy principle, Mars urges us to pursue our desires with passion.
While he’s retrograde, however, he’s feeling more introspective. Rather than leaping before looking, he encourages us to ask questions about how we use our passion and energy. But ultimately reflection isn’t Mars’ favorite thing (he’s the planet that retrogrades the least often — only once every 26 months). He’s eager to be on his way.
If you’ve taken the last few weeks to plan well, green lights are on and you’re good to go. But if you’ve given in to the frustration of feeling stalled, you may need a little time to recoup your will, ambition and drive.
In either case, July is a good month to make a fresh start. Wherever you’ve felt like you’ve fallen off the horse, it’s time to saddle up again. Remember, life isn’t about a constant stream of successes, it’s about how you get back on your feet when things haven’t gone as planned.
New Moon Fourth of July
It’s interesting to note that the next Cancer New Moon occurs on July 4. That means the annual “birthday chart” for the U.S. includes a New Moon (aligned with Pluto).
This suggests that as a nation, the US may feel a stronger-than-usual desire for a change. What that means in practice is hard to say, and may take months to manifest. But looks for the memes “fresh start” or “turning point” to turn up in advertising or social campaigns.
